Commune Structure - Deszczno

 

The Deszczno commune is a rural commune. It is located in the Gorzów county, Lubuskie Province. This agricultural commune covers an area of 168 sq km, a large part of which is forest and farmland (see Map 1). The commune comprises 21 villages: Białobłocie, Bolemin, Borek, Brzozowiec, Ciecierzyce, Deszczno, Dziersławice, Dzierżów, Glinik, Karnin, Kiełpin, Koszęcin, Krasowiec, Łagodzin, Maszewo, Niwica, Orzelec, Osiedle Poznańskie, Płonice, Prądocin and Ulim. Two national roads run through the commune:

 

  • Expressway No. 3 (S3), which constitutes the Polish part of the north-south international route E65 from Malmö, Sweden, to Chaniá (Crete, Greece),
  • National Road No. 22 which runs from the Polish-Russian border crossing in Grzechotki to the Polish-German border crossing in Kostrzyn.

The seat of the commune is the village of Deszczno. With its 1,200 inhabitants, it is the largest settlement. The total population of the Deszczno Commune is 9,339 inhabitants, including 50.02% women and 49.98% men. In 2002-2016, the number of inhabitants increased by 31.8%. The average age of inhabitants is 38.
